I am pretty much over this election at this point. After watching the debate last night, I feel that we are not breaking new ground here and will not in the next few weeks. Let's just vote tomorrow and move on! There also ceases to be any more entertainment value in any of it. During the first debate, Coral and I kept a list of humorous/obnoxious metaphors, cliches, word choices, etc. My personal favorite was when McCain used the word 'festooned'. Yesterday's debate offered very little verbal interest. The VP Candidates were excruciating to watch in their own way. And, let me just say that it is time for the Palins to hire a nanny and get that baby-and their younger daughter- put to bed on time. I am frankly annoyed that they seem to be using the children as a prop. I think the Republican party is using Sarah Palin as a prop, too, but she is a smart adult and has made an informed choice to play the game. Perhaps, however, future campaigns ought to include a review of present and past cast members of Saturday Night Live in their vetting process. Lastly, here is a list of words and phrases that should be removed from American English after this election, if not sooner: Maverick, Without Preconditions, Keep Americans in their Homes, Wall Street Corruption, Attack Pakistan, $5000 Tax Credit, the Last Eight Years, and Warren Buffett. Perhaps I have omitted your favorite- feel free to add to the list!
